    Subject Assessments

    1. Each of the six subjects that contribute towards the award of the Diploma is assessed on a scale of 1 – 7. The assessment criteria for each subject are based on the following:
      • Knowledge: Students demonstrate their understanding of the subject matter, including the ability to recall and apply relevant information.
      • Understanding: Students demonstrate their ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information to show a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
      • Application: Students demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge and understanding gained in the subject to real-world situations or problems.
      • Analysis: Students demonstrate their ability to analyze information, identify patterns, and draw conclusions based on the subject matter.
      • Evaluation: Students demonstrate their ability to evaluate information, identify strengths and weaknesses, and make informed judgments based on the subject matter.
      • Synthesis: Students demonstrate their ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, identify relationships, and create new insights based on the subject matter.

    Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Extended Essay (EE)

    1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE) are core components of the IB DP. The assessment criteria for these components are based on a scale of A to E, with A being the highest possible score.
      • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): Students are assessed on their ability to reflect on the nature of knowledge and its limitations, as well as their ability to analyze and evaluate knowledge claims.
      • Extended Essay (EE): Students are assessed on their ability to conduct independent research, analyze information, and present their findings in a clear and well-structured essay.

      Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

      1. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is another core component of the IB DP. The assessment criteria for CAS are based on the following:
        • Creativity: Students demonstrate their ability to think creatively, generate new ideas, and develop innovative solutions.
        • Activity: Students demonstrate their ability to engage in physical activities, develop their skills, and achieve their goals.
        • Service: Students demonstrate their ability to engage in community service, develop their social awareness, and contribute to the well-being of others.

        Grading

        1. The IB DP uses a grading system based on a scale of 1 to 7, with 7 being the highest possible score. The grading criteria are as follows:
          • Grade 1: The student demonstrates a very poor understanding of the subject matter and fails to meet the assessment criteria.
          • Grade 2: The student demonstrates a poor understanding of the subject matter and partially meets the assessment criteria.
          • Grade 3: The student demonstrates a satisfactory understanding of the subject matter and meets the assessment criteria.
          • Grade 4: The student demonstrates a good understanding of the subject matter and exceeds the assessment criteria.
          • Grade 5: The student demonstrates a very good understanding of the subject matter and consistently exceeds the assessment criteria.
          • Grade 6: The student demonstrates an excellent understanding of the subject matter and consistently exceeds the assessment criteria.
          • Grade 7: The student demonstrates an outstanding understanding of the subject matter and consistently exceeds the assessment criteria.

        Diploma Requirements

        1. To achieve an IB Diploma, students must meet the following requirements:
          • CAS requirements: Students must complete all CAS requirements, including creativity, activity, and service components.
          • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): Students must receive a grade of at least D for both TOK and the EE.
          • Extended Essay (EE): Students must receive a grade of at least D for the EE.
          • Subject grades: Students must receive a grade of at least 2 in all subjects.
          • Points: Students must earn at least 24 points from their subject grades, with a maximum of 45 points possible.
          • No grade 1: Students cannot receive a grade of 1 in any subject.
          • No more than two grade 2s: Students cannot receive more than two grade 2s in any subject.
          • No more than three grade 3s or below: Students cannot receive more than three grade 3s or below in any subject.
          • At least 12 points on Higher Level (HL) subjects: Students must earn at least 12 points on HL subjects.
          • At least 9 points on Standard Level (SL) subjects: Students must earn at least 9 points on SL subjects.
